A powerhouse on harp, sax and vocals, Paula has cut a fine disc with a host of first-call New Orleans musicians including Amedee Frederick on guitar, Harry Ravain on drums and Robert Wilson on bass. Rangell's original tunes, which reveal her to have a quick wit and a keen ear for the right mixture of blues, R & B, and soul make this album stand out. Paula has a sturdy voice that has no trouble switching from grit to tenderness and adapting to hard-hitting tunes that no doubt keep the dance floor packed. Her harmonica work really comes alive here too. With the glass-packs snarlin', Paula and the Pontiacs tore this particular house down.
